The HC-SR501 Passive Infrared (PIR) Sensor is the industry standard for detecting human or animal movement. It is the exact same technology used in commercial security systems and automated corridor lighting, making it an incredibly reliable addition to any DIY smart home project or intrusion alarm. This highly sensitive module works by detecting the infrared heat signatures emitted by living bodies moving across its field of view. It features two built-in potentiometers that allow you to easily adjust both the detection range and the time-delay, giving you complete control over how your custom PICO Motion devices react to movement. Detection Range: Up to 7 meters (Adjustable) Detection Angle: 110 Degrees Operating Voltage: 5V to 20V

Detailed Specifications

The HC-SR501 is incredibly easy to interface with any microcontroller. When motion is detected, the sensor simply outputs a 3.3V high digital signal, which can be read instantly by an Arduino, ESP32, or NodeMCU. Because of its massive 5V to 20V input range and ultra-low power consumption, it is perfect for battery-powered, long-term monitoring devices where efficiency is critical.

  • Operating Voltage Range: 5V - 20V DC
  • Quiescent Current: < 50µA (Ultra-low power consumption)
  • Output Signal: Digital High (3.3V) / Low (0V)
  • Detection Range: 3 meters to 7 meters (Adjustable via onboard potentiometer)
  • Detection Angle: < 110 degrees (Cone shape)
  • Delay Time: 0.3 seconds to 5 minutes (Adjustable via onboard potentiometer)
  • Blockade Time: 2.5 seconds (Default)
  • Trigger Methods: L (Unrepeatable trigger) / H (Repeatable trigger)
  • Dimensions: 32 mm x 24 mm x 18 mm (with dome lens)
